Week commencing 12th November:

Voicemod PRO is a continuous voice transformer fundamentally a sound comfort that can tweak our voice progressively. Voicemod Professional version is a voice changing project focused on gamers and online computer games that is additionally fit for cooperating with other programming, for example, TeamSpeak or Discord. Once again, this week worked towards the recording stage of my development points. As a whole this took me about 5 hours to complete, as I had to not only record the sounds, I had to extract the audio clips I liked the most and then put them in a folder together so I can start manipulating then in the coming weeks.

Voicemod

Voicemod Pro is a real-time voice changer (transformer/modifier) often used when talking to friends while playing video games online with software such as Discord or Skype. When I purchased the software, I didn’t really know what to expect as I only knew what it was and that it was popularly used online. I didn’t really want to use it to talk to friends online as I thought that it would get old and annoying really quickly. While testing out the software I had the idea to pick up my Kalimba instrument and see what it would sound like, it ended up sounding really cool and I made a note in my phone to record it and other things at another time.

That time would be now!

It comes with a bunch of pre-made vocal effects.
This means that when I eventually get to the ‘sound design’ stage of my development, I won’t have to do much post-processing

As I’ve mentioned in a previous post, I do not yet own a professional microphone, but I do have a webcam (which picks up room noise like my PC). Which could easily be seen as a bad thing, but I like to think of it like old technology, like vinyl or analogue gear, all three have there own personalities that give them character.

I decided to do one long uninterrupted audio recording, so I wouldn’t miss any interesting sounds that may be created, and it also gives me an opportunity maybe use the parts between the Kalimba recording as FX or pad sounds.

Overall I think the recording session went well.
